Global Wellness Institute lists Germany as Europe’s largest wellness tourism market, attracting USD60 billion in spending in 2015. In comparison, Switzerland drew USD12 billion, with medical tourism currently making up less than 10 percent of total visits.
Martin Nydeggar, CEO, Switzerland Tourism, commented, “[…] I think the tourism attraction of Switzerland is significantly higher than Germany’s.
Together, with the Alps, meadows, and our tourism assets, this is going to work to our advantage. We’re trying to bring together the combination of Swiss assets with Swiss medical facilities.”
